Job Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of animal health, veterinary public health and animal control and welfare matters in the county.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Veterinary activities in the Sub County
  • Supervise Sub-County Veterinary Technical Officers

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Undertake disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations
  • Participate in the training of stakeholders in vector control programs
  • Treat sick animals
  • Advise on good veterinary practices
  • Collect data on animal health, products and markets
  • Prepare reports on animal health, products and markets
  • Provide advice on animal breeding and welfare
  • Undertake postmortem examination and other diagnostic tests
