JOB ADVERT: TRANSPORT MANAGER – DAR ES SALAAM
Position: Transport Manager
Department: Transport Operations
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Dar es Salaam (with regional travel)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Senior Management
Role Purpose
Dominion Allied Services is recruiting a seasoned Transport Manager for a leading logistics organization in East Africa. The role oversees fleet operations, workshop management, outsourced transporter relationships, and full departmental P&L. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, compliance, and commercial performance across regional routes.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Transport Operations
a) Supervise dispatch, routing, monitoring, and trip closure.
b) Ensure full compliance with HSSEQ, JMP, and statutory requirements.
c) Manage fuel usage, route efficiency, and driver KPIs.
d) Enforce preventive maintenance to maximize fleet uptime.
Workshop Management
a) Oversee repairs, servicing, and spare parts usage.
b) Implement preventive maintenance programs.
c) Ensure workshop safety, quality, and compliance.
Outsourced Transporter Management
a) Identify and negotiate with regional transport partners.
b) Maintain a vetted pool of subcontractors.
c) Conduct quarterly performance evaluations.
Load Planning & Market Forecasting
a) Collaborate with commercial teams to forecast transport needs.
b) Secure forward capacity and plan for seasonal demand.
c) Reduce empty backhauls through market opportunities.
Client & Commercial Support
a) Support Key Account teams with insights and costings.
b) Ensure timely client reporting and resolution of issues.
c) Benchmark service delivery against industry standards.
Cost Control & P&L
a) Manage full Transport Department P&L.
b) Track cost-per-km, cost-per-trip, and fuel variance.
c) Drive cost-efficient operational improvements.
Leadership & Governance
a) Lead and mentor fleet, workshop, and outsourced teams.
b) Maintain a culture of accountability, safety, and transparency.
c) Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
