The primary role of the Senior Manager, Data Engineer is to lead and coordinate the data support teams and ensure the data availability, reliability & security is not compromised. The role is to lead the development and utilization of data systems. In this role, the Senior Manager, Data Engineer will be responsible for identifying efficient methods to organize, store, and analyse data while maintaining strict security and confidentiality measures.

Key Responsibilities; -

• Collaborate with other Technology staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Implement and adhere to regular systems maintenance policies and procedures, including change request mechanisms and update schedules to ensure optimum uptime and service availability.
• Participate in system acquisition process; propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, charts and implementation roadmaps to provide strategic direction to the business.
• Administer the assigned Systems at Application level and connected databases, define and optimize database structures, content and processing flows through appropriate Data Definition, Data Manipulation and Data Control Languages.
• Perform recovery and testing of systems and processes in accordance with the bank’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, and processes.
• Create and maintain best practice policies and procedures for business users; ensuring that there are adequate controls around that all data improvements are managed effectively and meet the needs of the organization.
• Responsible for designing and implementing ETL architecture to meet corporate data management needs and business functional requirements, ensuring that solution designs address operational requirements such as scalability, maintainability, extensibility, flexibility, and integrity.
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting, analysis, ETL data integrity, test automation, data quality validation and documentation.
• Support, develop and maintain ETL and data warehouse objects and processes in a large Data warehouse of Terabyte scale.

The Person

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering.
• Professional qualification in Data administration and operations certifications in either database administration in Oracle or MSSQL, MongoDB or Data Pipeline tools like ODI, Apache Kafka, NiFi, Airflow is required.
• Professional qualifications in Cloud Data Certifications (Azure, AWS, OCI) is an added Advantage.
• Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, Agile Scrum, PRINCE2) is required.
• Master’s degree in business administration, Data Management, Computer Science, (Added advantage).
• 6 years’ work experience in IT, with at least:
  • 6 years’ experience/knowledge in Computing platforms, operating systems i.e. Linux, windows Unix and databases, cloud solutions, development.
  • 4 years’ experience in relational and non-relational database administration or development in Oracle, MSSQL, MongoDB, Casandra.
  • 3 years’ experience in methods and techniques used in the installation, administration, monitoring, upgrading and problem resolution of Datawarehouse, master data management systems or Business Intelligence Platforms.
  • 4 years’ experience in Data Pipeline and Integration tools and technologies SAP Data Services, ODI, Apache Kafka, Azure Data Factory, NiFi, Airflow.
  • 3 years’ experience in methods and techniques used in the installation, administration, monitoring, upgrading and problem resolution of data warehouse systems.
