Job Purpose
The Senior Building Engineer will lead the planning, design, execution, and supervision of building projects. The role involves managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring compliance with Kenyan building codes and EBK standards, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Design
- Lead planning, design, execution, and supervision of building projects.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Promote sustainable and energy-efficient building solutions.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate with architects, structural, MEP, and contractors.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous improvement.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan building codes, EBK standards, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and resolve technical issues.
Project Management
- Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, and resources.
- Support procurement, contractor evaluation, and contract administration.
- Prepare project reports and communicate with clients and stakeholders.
Qualification and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Building, or Construction Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience building engineering.
- At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience delivering residential, commercial, institutional, or public infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Kenyan building regulations, contract administration, and HSE requirements.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- High integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
- Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driving license is an added advantage.
