Co-op Consultancy, a proud member of The Co-operative Bank Group, is seeking a dedicated and proficient SACCO Legal Officer to join our amazing team. We are committed to providing top-tier consultancy services to the co-operative sector, and this role is crucial in upholding our standards of legal excellence and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for offering comprehensive legal support and advisory services to our SACCO clients, ensuring their operations align with all relevant laws and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional passionate about the co-operative movement to grow their career within a dynamic and supportive environment. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong understanding of the legal landscape governing financial co-operatives in Kenya. Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance to SACCOs on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
- Represent SACCOs in legal proceedings and manage external legal counsel when necessary.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in legislation affecting the co-operative sector.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
- Proven experience in a legal role, preferably within the financial services or co-operative sector.
