An officer at this level will report to the Medical Officer In-charge
Responsibilities or duties
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:–
- Taking history, examining, diagnosis, education and treating patient’s common ailments at an outpatient or in patient health facility;
- Guiding and Counselling patients, clients and staff on health issues;
- Carrying out surgical procedures in theatres;
- Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
- Assessing, preparing and presenting medico -legal reports;
- Ensuring compliance with the set standard operating procedures; and
- Training, guiding and monitoring students on internship.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Requirements for appointments
For appointments to this grade a candidate must have:
- Kenyan Citizenship
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Higher Diploma in Anaesthesia or any other equivalent and relevant qualifications from a recognized institution;
- Annual retention certificate;
- Certificate of registration from the Clinical Officers Council.
- Proficiency in Computer applications; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Experience needed
- Cumulative service period of three (3) years’ work experience at the grade of Registered Clinical Officer-Anesthetist Il or in a comparable position,
Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)
- Those with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by Commission for University Education (CUE). In addition, during the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the issuing Institutions to the Board.
