About The Role

The Regional Distribution Manager will oversee the growth of the Sun King Rider Network, regional depot operations, and the expansion of distribution services for LPG and other products within Sun King’s portfolio. This is a field-based position that will focus on team management, rider recruitment, performance monitoring, rider grading based on service delivery, and quality assurance visits at customers’ homes. The position also oversees gas payment processing and reconciliation with gas vendors, store and inventory management, with team members across the assigned station regions reporting into the role.

Key Responsibilities

People and Performance

  • Guide teams through organisational change initiatives.
  • Identify employees with development potential and create tailored development plans.
  • Provide coaching to team members within the station region.
  • Facilitate onboarding and learning programmes.
  • Set regional performance expectations that align with company priorities.
  • Track KPIs across teams and review results with Territory Distribution Managers and Depot Executives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Develop improvement plans where performance does not meet expectations.
  • Recognise high-quality performance and positive contributions.
  • Conduct employee engagement surveys and regular check-ins.
  • Foster teamwork across regional teams.

Rider Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Identify suitable riders to join the Sun King Rider Network.
  • Complete onboarding activities for riders delivering products and services within the network.
  • Complete all required KYC verification for riders within assigned territories.
  • Maintain rider numbers above the minimum requirement to achieve daily order completion above 95%.

Rider Retention

  • Develop initiatives that improve rider satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Work with internal teams to introduce initiatives that improve rider earnings and productivity.
  • Introduce activities that strengthen rider participation and long-term retention.

Safety

  • Ensure riders have the required PPE and safety equipment during operational hours.
  • Promote safe riding practices across all regions.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on safe riding initiatives.
  • Introduce new practices that improve rider safety.

Act as the primary Sun King Rider Network representative within assigned territories during community meetings, local government engagements, and other local forums.

Work with the Procurement team to ensure timely payments for gas, cylinders, and other operational expenses in line with established credit terms.

Distribution Expansion

  • Identify shops that meet the requirements for LPG cylinder storage and distribution.

Customer Service

  • Coach agents on customer care standards and accurate communication with customers.
  • Deliver refresher training on customer service standards.
  • Develop rider CSAT, NPS, customer handling, and resolution time KPIs.
  • Review customer feedback results and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Conduct scheduled and unplanned customer visits to verify product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure timely handling of customer feedback and operational issues received from the field.

Inventory Management

  • Ensure LPG measurement devices, cylinders, gas, and other company assets are managed through effective inventory controls, maintaining unaccounted inventory losses below 2%.

Cost Management

  • Identify unnecessary costs and introduce initiatives that improve cost efficiency.
  • Ensure delivery expenses remain within approved budgets.

Technology

  • Use delivery technology and tracking systems to improve operational visibility and efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all LPG distribution activities comply with national regulations.
  • Maintain all required licenses and permits.

Supply Chain

  • Coordinate LPG supply with approved suppliers.
  • Oversee replenishment of FMCDs, cookstoves, and cylinders from warehouses to depots and regional storage facilities.
  • Maintain sufficient stock across all regions.
  • Ensure timely payments to LPG suppliers to minimize service interruptions.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules between transport teams, depots, and refill stations where an in-house LPG distribution truck operates.
  • Improve distribution efficiency through effective route planning and vehicle utilisation.
  • Coordinate the return of uninstalled FMCDs and cookstoves to the QA team for inspection and repair while maintaining a consistent returns process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain management, or last-mile delivery operations.
  • Strong data interpretation skills with the ability to make evidence-based judgment calls.
  • Experience delivering process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with third-party delivery providers and supplier contracts.
  • Proficiency with logistics and delivery management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
  • Experience testing and introducing new delivery methods, including tuk-tuks and motorcycles.
  • Ability to measure the impact of operational improvements on delivery efficiency and agent productivity.
  • Experience preparing reports and operational recommendations for senior management on delivery optimisation initiatives.
