Responsibilities or duties

This role involves providing expert guidance and technical support for the development and implementation of projects focused on natural ecosystem restoration and integrated landscape management, specifically within the context of GEF ID 11862 and the establishment of new terrestrial protected areas in Djibouti (GEF ID 12018). Key responsibilities will include project design, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and ensuring alignment with GEF and UNEP strategies.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Candidates are expected to possess a strong understanding of ecosystem restoration principles, integrated landscape management approaches, and protected area establishment. Experience with GEF-funded projects and familiarity with the environmental context of the Horn of Africa would be advantageous. Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential.

Experience needed

Significant experience in project development and implementation in the environmental sector, with a focus on ecosystem restoration and/or protected area management. Experience working with international organizations and in developing countries is highly desirable.
