Background information about the job or company

The Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) is a body corporate established under section 50 of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act Cap 376 (WCMA 2013). The Institute seeks to recruit a suitable innovative and result-oriented Principal Research Scientist I to join our team.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Lead and coordinate wildlife research initiatives.
  • Provide scientific-based solutions to inform policy decisions and management approaches.
  • Develop innovative wildlife-based products and services.
  • Enhance capacity in wildlife conservation and management through training.
  • Supervise and mentor research staff.
  • Prepare research proposals, reports, and publications.

Qualifications or requirements 

  • Relevant qualifications in Wildlife Science, Ecology, Zoology, Conservation Biology, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience needed

  • Proven experience in wildlife research and management.
  • Strong publication record and research leadership.

Any other provided details

  • Permanent and Pensionable employment type.
  • Successful candidates will be required to comply with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
