Role Summary
The Pharmacist will be responsible for overseeing all pharmaceutical services within the facility, ensuring safe, effective, and rational use of medicines. The role combines clinical pharmacy practice, inventory and supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and patient counseling within a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the dispensing of medications in compliance with established protocols and regulatory standards
- Provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care, including medication counseling and adherence support
- Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, drug interactions, and dosing accuracy
- Collaborate with clinicians to optimize therapeutic outcomes
- Oversee procurement, inventory management, and stock control systems to ensure availability and minimize expiries
- Implement and monitor pharmacovigilance and medication safety systems
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulations and other relevant statutory requirements
- Maintain accurate records, including controlled substances registers and reporting systems
- Support development and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pharmacy operations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from a recognized institution
- Registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Kenya
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a hospital or high-volume outpatient setting
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain management and regulatory requirements
- Experience with digital health systems / EMRs is an added advantage

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Integrity and professionalism in handling medicines and patient information
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Systems thinking and continuous improvement mindset
