On behalf of a premier healthcare client located in Nairobi, Maverick Recruitment is seeking a qualified, licensed, and dedicated Pharmaceutical Technologist to oversee community pharmacy and dispensary operations.
Position Overview
The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible for managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, accurately dispensing medications, offering professional pharmaceutical care and counselling to patients, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. Operating in a high-volume setting, the role requires high attention to detail, clinical precision, and excellent client communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispensing & Medication Safety: Interpret prescriptions accurately, verify dosages, compound formulations where necessary, and safely dispense pharmaceutical products to patients.
- Patient Counselling & Advisory: Provide clear instructions to patients regarding dosage schedules, potential side effects, storage conditions, and drug interactions.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor drug stock levels, track shelf life/expiration dates, enforce cold chain storage standards, and assist with inventory reordering.
- Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Maintain detailed dispensing logs and strictly observe all pharmacy and health regulatory standards within the facility.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized training institution.
- Licensing & Registration: Valid professional registration and a current practicing license.
- Experience: Proven relevant work experience within a busy community pharmacy, hospital, or healthcare facility.
- Key Skills: Excellent customer service, strong interpersonal communication, numerical accuracy, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
