Background
CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.
Role Context
The Operations Assistant will act as the right hand tthe COO.The Operations Assistant will work on projects and tasks within each of the departments, with the guidance and mentorship of the COO. The role ensures effective, efficient, and compliant operations that support the company’s goals of reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and improving quality across all six departments. The role will be continuously changing, requiring an adaptive mind whexcels with many different diverse tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Receive instructions/guidance from the COO, and then complete small, medium and large sized projects across the company. Own the projects. Examples: Evaluating the use of casuals at the factory, Considering new and or different equipment timprove efficiency, Reviewing and improving customer facing documents, Reviewing and improving training material, Field visits tidentify areas for improvement on sourcing and logistics, Ensuring that the technology is being properly utilized/maximized.
- Perform operational checks on any of the major initiatives within the company.
- Follow/shadow the COO, ensuring that all tasks that gbeyond his capacity tfollow up are completed well and on schedule.
- Consistently identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, improved quality, reduced waste.
- Work and communicate collaboratively and cordially with each of the other major departments to ensure congeniality and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Requirements
The suitable candidate will be/have:
- Data smart – Advanced excel, able tuse data tfind trends and make decisions
- Versatile – Able twork on many different types of projects at once; this is a very diverse job.
- Flexible – Understanding of the needs of a fast moving, fast changing and growing company; need to be able to pivot quickly.
- Well organized – Capable of setting deadlines, maintaining clean records and files.
- Independent worker – Once given guidance/training, able tstay on task and complete a job with minimal supervision.
- Quick learner – Capable of understanding many different topics at once, able tstay focused and build expertise.
- Proactive – Full of ideas, and does not wait tbe asked tshare their opinions.
- Creative problem solver – Capable of seeing multiple options for a given scenario.
- Hungry – Ambitious, with a desire tlearn fast and contribute massively tthe needs of the company.
- Good communicator
- Curious and relentless – Never stop asking if things can be done differently tbe better. Never stop trying to improve.
- Familiar with project management – PM experience a plus.
- Evidence of professional excellence in one or many fields relevant tthe client
- Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
