Background
The National Crime Agency (NCA) is the UK’s lead agency against organised crime. We are a national agency with a global reach, working to protect the UK from the threat posed by serious and organised crime by disrupting criminal networks and bringing offenders to justice.
The International Liaison Officer (ILO) network is a key part of the NCA’s international strategy. ILOs are based in British Embassies and High Commissions around the world and work to build partnerships with host nation law enforcement agencies, share intelligence and support UK law enforcement operations.
Role Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to provide essential administrative and logistical support to the National Crime Agency International Liaison Officer (ILO) based at the British High Commission Nairobi. You will be responsible for managing the ILO’s office, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations, and providing a high level of support to enable the ILO to effectively carry out their duties.
Responsibilities
- Manage the ILO’s diary, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Organise and prepare for meetings, including drafting agendas, taking minutes, and distributing action points.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters, and phone calls, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Maintain and organise office records, filing systems, and databases.
- Manage office supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and coordinating maintenance as needed.
- Provide logistical support for the ILO’s travel, including booking flights, accommodation, and visas.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents.
- Liaise with internal departments at the British High Commission and external stakeholders as required.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Support the ILO in any other administrative or operational tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in an office management or administrative support role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Discretion and a high level of confidentiality.
- Experience working in an embassy or international organisation is desirable.
- A good understanding of the political and security landscape in Kenya and the wider region would be an advantage.
Education
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Further education or professional qualifications in administration or a related field are an asset.
