Medical Engineer

Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, test, and safely commission new biomedical and medical equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and rapid emergency repairs on all clinical machinery and devices.
- Train medical, nursing, and clinical staff on the safe and proper operation of critical medical instruments.
- Ensure all healthcare equipment strictly complies with national safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and software issues on diagnostic and therapeutic systems.
- Keep precise documentation and maintenance records of all equipment repairs, calibrations, and historical logs.
- Monitor medical equipment inventory, track spare parts, and coordinate with external suppliers for specialized servicing.
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in Medical Engineering from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
- Active registration or licensing with the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK).
- Practical experience working in a hospital setup, diagnostic laboratory, or clinical environment.
- Strong technical ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and troubleshoot clinical instruments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with medical specialists and healthcare staff.
- Keen attention to detail, high safety awareness, and a strong problem-solving mindset.
- Willingness to work on call, during emergency shifts, or over weekends as required.
