Responsibilities or duties

  • Support the implementation and scaling of the Group’s climate and green finance strategy by embedding climate-related considerations into business and credit processes across all subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate the identification, screening, classification, and validation of climate-aligned and green transactions to ensure alignment with the Group’s Green Framework and applicable taxonomies.
  • Serve as the central liaison between the Group Sustainability team and country subsidiaries, facilitating communication, alignment, and follow-up on sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate the implementation and consistent application of Group sustainability frameworks, including the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), Green Lending Framework, and climate risk guidelines across all subsidiaries.
  • Provide technical guidance to Relationship Managers, Credit, Risk, and Business teams across the Group on structuring climate finance transactions and applying green eligibility criteria.
  • Work closely with the Credit and Risk functions to integrate climate and environmental considerations into credit appraisal, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring processes within subsidiaries.
  • Design and deliver training and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen understanding of climate finance, green lending, and sustainability frameworks and initiatives across subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate the collection and consolidation of climate finance and other sustainability initiatives data from subsidiaries to support internal monitoring, management updates, and sustainability reporting.
  • Support engagement with regulators, development finance institutions, and industry bodies on matters related to climate finance and green lending, ensuring alignment with emerging regulatory and market expectations.
  • Monitor regional and global developments in climate finance, sustainable taxonomies, and regulatory requirements, providing recommendations to enhance the Group’s frameworks and practices.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
  • Professional qualifications in either : Sustainable Finance, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental & Social Risk Management (ESRM) or training in Green/Climate taxonomies.

Experience needed

  • At least three (3) years' relevant work experience in sustainability, including specific experience in the following: climate finance, green lending, and green finance frameworks.
  • Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) and IFC Performance Standards.
  • Screening and classifying green or climate-aligned transactions using internal frameworks and applicable taxonomies.
  • Stakeholder management. (Engagement with regulators, industry bodies, or development partners on technical E&S or climate risk matters.)
  • Designing and delivering internal training or capacity-building on sustainability initiatives.
  • Data analysis, reporting, preparing and delivering presentations
  • Experience in green financing and the application of Go-to Market (GTM) strategies will be an added advantage
