Job Title: Machine Operator
Reports To: Brewing Manager
Department: Production
Job Purpose To operate, monitor, and maintain assigned machines and equipment to deliver safe, efficient, and consistent production of high-quality beverages. The role ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Food Safety Management Systems, International Occupational Safety & Health Standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities ● Operate, monitor, and adjust machinery and equipment according to SOPs and production schedules. ● Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, product and process changeovers/wash-outs while maintaining quality standards and minimizing downtime. ● Operate machines at a minimum of 80% productivity and contribute to continuous process improvement. ● Record and monitor critical process parameters and take corrective actions to ensure products meet specifications. ● Operate area-specific systems including and not limited to: Boiler, CIP Plant, Water Treatment Plant, Glycol System, Tunnel Pasteurizer, Packaging Lines, Kieselguhr Filtration, Brewhouse, Generator, Sugar Plant, and Other Utilities. ● Perform daily checks and basic maintenance tasks to minimize breakdowns. ● Identify and troubleshoot malfunctions, escalating to Engineering/Maintenance when required. ● Maintain lubrication schedules, alignment checks, and calibration of fillers, cappers, and conveyors. ● Ensure CIP readiness with correct valve positioning, seal integrity, and leak-free sanitation. ● Document all checks, anomalies, and corrective actions in machine logbooks. ● Troubleshoot common malfunctions (jams, rejection, fill level errors, leaks) and escalate persistent issues. ● Participate in stand-ups and PM shutdowns with Engineering/Maintenance, supporting tear-downs and cleaning. ● Monitor and request spare parts, and handle assigned tools responsibly. ● Ensure planned production targets are achieved. Label, segregate, and return unused/rejected materials in liaison with QC and Packaging Specialist. ● Inspect products during and after production to ensure adherence to specifications. ● Report deviations immediately and participate in Root Cause Analysis. ● Stage equipment and raw materials correctly before processing to prevent cross-contamination. ● Use only packaging materials cleared by QC and regulatory standards. ● Maintain accurate records of quality checks, concessions, and approvals. ● Support continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, defects, and downtime. ● Maintain high standards of personal hygiene. ● Clean and sanitize machines and work areas as per SOPs. ● Remove unused materials/waste promptly and maintain hazard-free workstations. ● Execute 5S principles and act as a champion for workplace organization. ● Ensure machines are ready as per the daily and weekly production plan. ● Carry out proper handover to incoming operators following SOPs. ● Record production data as necessary (quantities, weights, sizes, dates, product type) accurately.

● Follow all EHS, KEBS, NEMA, OSHA 2007, and Public Health requirements. ● Ensure correct use of PPE for yourself and colleagues. ● Participate in fire safety drills and emergency response. ● Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) and confined space procedures. ● Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately. ● Promote a zero-incident, safety-first culture. ● Take responsibility for both personal and team safety. ● Complete production, maintenance, and quality logs accurately and on time. ● Record breakdowns, stoppages, corrective actions, and handovers. ● Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation is complete and accessible. ● Work closely with teammates, supervisors, QC, and maintenance engineers. ● Participate in training sessions and cross-skilling initiatives. ● Suggest and support process improvements to enhance plant efficiency. ● Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
Diploma in Food Science and Technology, Process/Biochemical Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or its equivalent. ● At least 1–2 years’ experience in operations and maintenance.
