The Nyandarua National Polytechnic (TNNP) was established as a premier public technical training institution through a local community initiative on land donated by KARI. Standing as the flagship technical institution in Nyandarua County, TNNP is committed to fostering academic excellence, practical innovation, and professional TVET education.
Job Summary
We are looking for a visionary Librarian to oversee information storage, user registration, library security systems, and resource classification. Working closely with the Chief Librarian, the incumbent will supervise library personnel, implement national guidelines, manage digital catalogs, and curate rich print and digital repositories.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Policy & Operations: Implement library policies conforming to national guidelines; manage storage, classification, indexing, and retrieval systems.
- Staff Supervision & Governance: Allocate tasks, conduct performance appraisals, and manage disciplinary procedures for library personnel under supervision.
- Collection & Asset Security: Ensure strict custody of institutional publications and library materials; supervise the computerized security system and manage user clearance and fines.
- Budgeting & Digital Updates: Assist in developing the library budget; update website content with important information and guide users on digital platform navigation.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science/Studies, Information Science, or an equivalent discipline from a recognized institution.
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
Professional Membership
- Active member of the Kenya Library Association (KLA).
Technical & Interpersonal Skills
- Certificate in Computer Applications; excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and high integrity.
Mandatory Chapter Six Clearances
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Tax Compliance Certificate (KRA)
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Clearance
- Clearance from a recognized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
