JUMIA is an e-commerce startup with an aim to mimic Amazon’s success by delivering a wide range of items, from toys to generators across the African continent. Shortly after the startup of the business in Nigeria, JUMIA launched warehouses in four other growing countries which include: Egypt, Morocco, Kenya and Cote d'Ivoire.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with C-level executives and account managers of our top brands and distributors in the category. You will be one of the key external representatives of Jumia in this category, alongside the Country Managing Director and CCO.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive sales growth and maximize revenue across your portfolio.
  • Lead the acquisition of new high-potential brands and large distributors to enrich our assortment and consolidate Jumia’s leadership in your category.
  • Identify and unlock monetization opportunities by promoting and selling Jumia’s advertising and visibility services to brands and partners in your portfolio.
  • Collaborate with marketing and commercial planning teams to build promotional campaigns tailored to your accounts and the category dynamics.
  • Analyze sales performance and market data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Monitor and report on key account metrics, including sales, inventory, campaign performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate win-win agreements and long-term partnerships with key accounts, ensuring mutual profitability and sustainable collaboration.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and evolving customer preferences to inform your strategy and recommendations.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (merchandising, operations, logistics, etc.) to ensure flawless execution and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Experience needed

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the category or retail industry in the market, with a strong understanding of local market dynamics and players.
  • In-depth knowledge of your market category ecosystem, including key brands, distributors, and consumer trends.
  • Graduate of a top-tier business or engineering school (Top 5 in your country or internationally recognized equivalent).
  • Proven commercial acumen with a strong track record of delivering business results and driving negotiations with senior stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, derive insights, and define actionable strategies.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Workspace, and familiar with CRM or relationship management tools.
  • Comfortable working with digital tools and dashboards to monitor performance and inform decision-making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills: able to build trust, rally teams, and drive alignment internally and externally.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven and highly competitive environment.
