General Purpose

Our client, a manufacturing company, seeks to hire an Imports Officer to be responsible for managing import documentation, coordinating shipments, and ensuring compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all import activities from suppliers to final delivery.
• Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, to ensure seamless importation.
• Liaise with clearing and forwarding agents, shipping lines, and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), customs, and other statutory requirements.
• Track shipments and provide regular status updates to internal stakeholders
• Resolve import-related issues such as delays, discrepancies, or damages
• Maintain accurate records of import transactions and costs
• Support cost control by monitoring freight, duties, and related charges

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business, or a related field
• 3 - 4 years' hands-on experience in import operations
• Good understanding of Incoterms, customs procedures, and import documentation
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems is an added advantage
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
