Background
The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited, Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme 2006 ("the Scheme”) was established on 1 July 2006, following the closure of the Defined Benefits (DB) Scheme on 30th June 2006. As a Defined Contributions Scheme, the Scheme is managed by a Board of Trustees whose membership is divided equally between Sponsor nominated Trustees and Member nominated Trustees. The administrative functions of the Scheme are undertaken by the Secretariat of the Defined Benefits Scheme in an arrangement whereby the DC Scheme pays an administrative fee to the DB Scheme. The Scheme was established by the Sponsor with the main objective being to provide benefits to employees (members) upon retirement or to their dependents in the event of death in service.
Job Description
Responsible for supporting the effective delivery of Human Resource services by implementing HR policies, managing operational HR processes, ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour laws, and supporting employee performance, engagement, and development.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualification: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 4 year(s)
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes including advertising, shortlisting, interview invites.
- Promote positive employee relations and workplace harmony
- Implement HR policies and procedures and ensure staff awareness
- Ensure compliance with required laws and regulations.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes for new employees
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and reports
- Support implementation of the performance management framework
- Support training needs assessments and preparation of annual training plans
- Coordinate implementation of training
- Coordinate leave management, preparing leave roasters and implementation of the same.
- Maintain training records and follow up evaluate training effectiveness
- Handle day-to-day employee relations matters and grievances
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelors Degree or an equivalent in bachelor of science in human reource management from accredited and recognized institution.
- Professional in bachelor of science in human reource management from accredited and recognized institution.
- 4 years of relevant experience as an supervisor in human resource industry
- Professional Human Resource qualifications e.g. member of IHRM, CHRP
- Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, including ability to build collaborative Relationships with sensitivity to diversity/inclusion.
- Creativity and innovation skills.
- Action oriented and demonstrated ability to manage priorities
- Quality focus and attention to detail.
- Professionalism and integrity in line with Kenya Power Pension Fund values.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Personal motivation and drive are exhibited through commitment to hard work, continuous improvement and achievement of goals.
- Experience in use of HR software and ERP systems.
- Good customer relationship management skills (internal and external customers).
- Risk awareness - demonstrate understanding of risk management practices.
- Possess a professional certificate of bachelor of science in human reource management
- Should be a member of Institute of Human Resource Management
