Job Summary:

Jamii Maziwa Ltd is seeking a versatile and dynamic Head of Human Resources to lead the HR Department. The successful candidate will align workforce planning and HR strategies with overall business objectives.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration (HR option), Psychology, or a related field.
  • Higher Diploma in HR Management (or equivalent).
  • Registered member in good standing with IHRM Kenya, with a valid practicing license.
  • 5+ years experience heading an HR department within a busy, commercial environment.
  • Prior experience in the dairy or FMCG industries is highly advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of Kenyan labor laws (Employment Act, OSHA, Data Protection Act, etc.).
  • Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.
  • Proven expertise in HR strategy, performance management, succession planning, and industrial/labor relations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Align workforce planning and HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Policy Management: Formulate, review, and enforce HR policies in compliance with Kenyan labor laws.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment, onboarding, and talent retention strategies.
  • Performance Management: Implement and oversee robust performance management systems.
  • Learning & Development: Coordinate training, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Employee Relations: Manage disciplinary processes, grievances, and foster healthy industrial relations.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Oversee payroll inputs, statutory submissions, and benefits administration.
  • Budgeting: Formulate and manage the HR departmental budget.
  • Organizational Culture: Cultivate employee engagement, wellness programs, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present periodic HR reports for Management and the Board.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with labor offices, regulatory bodies, and training institutions.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of HR department staff.

  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
