Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Graphic Artist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Graphic Artist will manage an arts, graphic, and media center, providing personalized and media printing services, while supporting marketing and outreach for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) operations.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Provide comprehensive arts, graphic, and media printing services to meet customer requests and deliver high-quality personalized products, including:
    • Printing custom T-shirts.
    • Creating sports uniforms.
    • Engraving brass trophy plates and brass plaque plates.
  • Collaborate with customers to receive and interpret design orders and customer-owned designs, ensuring services are performed accurately and professionally.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other graphic tools to create unique and customized arts, graphics, and media work.
  • Produce a Monthly MWR Newsletter in color to market and advertise scheduled events, clubs, snack bars, and other MWR operations.
  • Ensure the Newsletter is reviewed and approved by the Government prior to distribution.
  • Create and submit timely input concerning recreational and club events to various platforms and media outlets, including:
    • Plan of the Day.
    • Tropical Times.
    • Naval Media Center or other Navy-recognized island-wide periodicals.
    • Other endorsed publications to optimize patron awareness of MWR activities.
  • Ensure all printed and distributed materials align with branding, formatting, and content standards for MWR marketing and Navy regulations.
  • Operate and maintain printing, engraving, and graphic design equipment to provide high-quality outputs and ensure consistent performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer orders, transactions, and activities to provide timely updates and service status.
  • Provide artistic input and designs for marketing initiatives to support the promotion of various events and activities.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects while producing high-quality designs and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with MWR staff to support overall objectives and provide marketing solutions that enhance operational visibility and engagement.
  • Actively seek ways to improve graphic, printing, and media services by staying up-to-date with technology and design trends.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • 2-4 years of experience in graphic design, media production, or arts-related fields.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or formal education in graphic design, arts, marketing, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and relevant design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or equivalent programs.
  • Hands-on experience operating printing machines, engravers, and other graphic media production equipment.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and branding.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact directly with customers and deliver high-quality, personalized designs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience producing and managing outreach materials, such as newsletters, advertisements, and promotional content.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Strong background in marketing for events and programs, with knowledge of social media and traditional advertising platforms.
  • Prior experience creating designs for government, military, or MWR-related programs.
  • Understanding of engraving techniques and proficiency in operation of engraving equipment.
  • Knowledge of Navy regulations, branding, and marketing guidelines for internal events and publications.
  • Experience managing arts and media centers, including maintaining equipment, supplies, and records.
