This position requires deep technical expertise in agricultural education, strong program and partnership management experience, experience living abroad, and the flexibility to spend significant time embedded in new country programs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Country Expansion & Government Engagement

  • Lead the scoping and initiation of SBAE programs in new countries, identifying capable local partners and assessing readiness for implementation.
  • Build and manage relationships with key ministries (i.e. Education, Agriculture, Youth), multilaterals, NGOs, and private-sector stakeholders to secure government commitment and align SBAE with national priorities and complementary initiatives (such as school feeding or youth employment).
  • Support governments in creating the policy, coordination, and institutional frameworks required to embed SBAE within public systems.
  • Convene and facilitate multi-stakeholder design workshops to ensure local ownership and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Recruit, manage and mentor program staff based in other countries.

2. Technical Leadership, Training & Program Development

  • Provide overall technical direction on SBAE program design and implementation, ensuring fidelity to core principles while allowing contextual adaptation.
  • Lead development and refinement of teacher training curricula, experiential learning modules, and implementation toolkits.
  • Deliver and oversee capacity-building workshops for government staff, and partner organizations.
  • Design and strengthen monitoring and learning systems that generate actionable data for continuous improvement.
  • Promote peer learning and knowledge exchange across countries to sustain quality, innovation, and consistency.

3. Fundraising, Resource Mobilization & Strategic Partnerships

  • Lead and support fundraising for SBAE pilots and scale-up in new countries.
  • Provide technical inputs to proposals, investment cases, and donor presentations.
  • Manage grant funding that flows through AgriCorps, ensuring compliance, reporting, and timely delivery of results.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with donors, multilaterals, and private-sector partners to mobilize funding and integrate SBAE into broader education, youth development and agricultural initiatives..
  • Contribute to the AgriCorps global growth strategy, representing the organization in regional and global forums and helping position SBAE within major donor and policy agendas.

4. Research, Learning & Knowledge Management

  • Collaborate with research partners (e.g., IPA, universities) on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and evaluations, ensuring alignment between research design and program delivery.
  • Translate findings into actionable insights for governments, implementers, and funders.
  • Document and disseminate lessons learned, case studies, and best practices through the Movement for SBAE Knowledge Hub and cross-country learning exchanges.
  • Strengthen feedback loops between evidence, implementation, and policy to accelerate system integration and scaling.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (strongly preferred) in Agricultural Education, International Development, or related field; bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7–10 years of experience in agricultural education or extension, with proven project-management experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Expertise in teacher training, curriculum development, or agricultural pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated success in program start-up, systems integration, and scaling initiatives.
  • Strong background in fundraising, grant management, and donor reporting.
  • Experience engaging senior government officials, research partners, and development agencies.
  • Ability to design or strengthen monitoring systems and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and cross-cultural communication skills.
