Job summary

Responsible for managing daily fish farm operations including monitoring water quality, feeding, breeding, harvesting, and maintaining fish health. The role also involves implementing biosecurity measures, tracking fish growth and performance, and keeping accurate farm records.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • 1.Maintain fish farms and hatcheries through regular monitoring and control of fisheries resources and water quality examination (pH, temperature, DO, ammonia, etc.)for signs of pollution
  • 2.Implement strict biosecurity measures for fish farm
  • 3.Oversee daily feeding, grading, and harvesting activities
  • 4.Monitor the health of the fish by maintaining a stable and healthy aquatic environment for optimal fish growth and treat them when appropriate
  • 5.Oversee planning, sourcing, and management of fish feed to ensure optimal growth and health
  • 6.Plan breeding programmes and harvesting schedules to obtain maximum efficiency
  • 7.Ensure proper stock management and control in fish handling, spawning, grading and harvesting
  • 8.Monitor growth performance, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and survival rate.
  • 9.Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for on pond management.
  • 10.Detect and report fish health or behavioral changes promptly to prevent disease outbreaks.
  • 11.Maintain accurate records on stocking, feeding, water quality, mortality, health and treatment and share with management as per required timelines
  • 12.Perform any other duties assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1. Diploma in one of the following fields Fisheries, Aquaculture, Fisheries Management or any related field
  • 2. Good understanding of fish breeding, fish harvesting, post-harvest handling and hatchery management
  • 3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as Fish Officer
  • 4. Knowledge in fish feed formulation and feeding management
