County Government of Kakamega
Responsibilities or duties
This will be the entry point for diploma holders. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
- Teach learners;
- Be a role model, guide and counsel, mentor and motivate the learners;
- Prepare reports;
- Assure safety and security of the learners;
- Design, organize and facilitate play and learning activities;
- Care and nurture spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development);
- Manage ECDE classes and keep professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, attendance registers and health records);
- Prepare and develop play and learning materials;
- Guide the learner to prepare and develop play and learning materials; and
- Identify and nurture talent in learners.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at O’ Level;
- Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) offered by KNEC or Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent;
- Be conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and other emerging learning trends;
- Registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC); and
- Certificate in Computer Applications.
