Director Of Medical Services Job Group 'R'

Terms Of Service Permanent And Pensionable

Salary Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 127,340–182,890 p.m.

House Allowance: Ksh 35,000/= per month

Commuter Allowance: Ksh 16,000/= per month

Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service

Annual Leave: 30 working days

Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu

a) Duties And Responsibilities

• Providing leadership in the implementation of a strategic plan which is linked to the Department of Health and National Health Plans;
• Developing and implementing medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols;
• Coordinating emergency response and clinical care;
• Monitoring and evaluating activities against quality standards and respond;
• Lead the development of Annual Work Plans;
• Supervising the implementation of the existing quality assurance systems provided to monitor the quality of service, investigating of incidents/complaints in the hospitals and health facilities;
• Leading the management of clinical audits, promoting and quality assurance issues including multidisciplinary audit and quality initiatives;
• Coordinating the training, coaching and mentoring of health personnel;
• Analysing, evaluating and determining health status of patients and implement proper care plan;
• Designing and conducting operations, research, analysing and utilizing research findings in planning activities to improve service delivery
• Ensure that staff comply with the clinical and rehabilitative quality assurance guidelines.

b) Requirements For Appointment

• Be a Kenyan Citizen;
• Cumulative service period of ten (10) relevant years' work experience, three (3) of which should be at the grade of Deputy Director of Medical Services/Medical Specialist or in a comparable position;
• Bachelor Degree in the following discipline: - Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from an Institution or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Masters' degree in the relevant medical field from a university recognized in Kenya;
• Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and in good standing;
• A valid practicing license the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
• Proficiency in computer application skills; and
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional and managerial ability as reflected in work performance and results.
