Responsibilities or duties

• Coordinating the implementation of livestock development policies in the County Government of Kisumu;
• Managing the Department of livestock human resource capacity development;
• Managing fiscal resources for the Department, provision and improvement of administrative services;
• Promoting collaboration of stakeholder's participation in livestock extension delivery;
• Coordinating livestock extension research liaison and training programmes in the County Government of Kisumu;
• Providing technical guidance in all aspects of livestock production and development;
• Coordinating livestock technical forums, workshops and seminars;
• Designing livestock marketing strategies;
• Promoting product value addition;
• Managing livestock data bank.
• Supervising and managing staff, programs and administrative functions for the Department;

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

• Be a Kenyan Citizen;
• Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Science; Animal Production; Veterinary Medicine; Range Management; or equivalent qualification from recognized institution;
• Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Science; Animal Production; Veterinary Medicine; Range Management or equivalent qualification from recognized institution
• Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Be a registered member of a recognised professional body;
• Proficiency in computer application skills;

Experience needed

• Cumulative service period of ten (10) relevant years' work experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level;
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional and managerial ability as reflected in work performance and results.
