County Government of Kisumu invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated and pro- active individuals to fill vacancies in the following position:
Responsibilities or duties
a) Duties And Responsibilities
- (i) Organizing, directing, controlling and co-ordinating the functions of the Directorate;
- (ii) Interpreting and application of national irrigation and agricultural laws and other related statutes in line with the county goals and objectives;
- (iii) Managing the training function in liaison with other agricultural training institutions;
- (iv) Providing technical guidance in performing design work and scientific calculation of irrigation and agriculture;
- (v) Assessing, designing and overseeing construction irrigation project and distribution of water to agricultural lands;
- (vi) Providing technical guidance in land and water management or soil conservation;
- (vii) Managing farm and agribusiness development;
- (viii) Monitoring and reporting of food in the County Government of Kisumu in liaison with other relevant organization in the County Government of Kisumu;
- (ix) Developing appropriate county irrigation and agricultural policies, legal and institutional frameworks for the implementation of the mandate of the ministry;
- (x) Planning and supervision of agricultural extension programmes and activities;
- (xi) Ensuring effective operation of extension services; and
- (xii) Promoting and maintaining extension and research linkages.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
b) Requirements For Appointment
- (i) Be a Kenyan Citizen;
- (ii) Cumulative service period of ten (10) relevant years' work experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level;
- (iii) Bachelors of Sciences Degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture, dry land farming, horticultural, agricultural economics, agricultural extension, Water and Irrigation, Agricultural Engineering, Water and Soil Engineering or equivalent qualification from recognized institution;
- (iv) Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: Food Science; Agriculture Home Economics; Agriculture; Agronomy; Horticulture; Agricultural Economics; Soil & Water Conservation; Agribusiness; Agricultural Extension; Agricultural Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- (v) Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
- (vi) Proficiency in computer application skills; and
- (vii) Demonstrated a high degree of professional and managerial ability as reflected in work performance and results
Experience needed
Cumulative service period of ten (10) relevant years' work experience, three (3) of which should have been at senior management level;

Terms Of Service Permanent And Pensionsable
Salary Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 127,340–182,890 p.m.
House Allowance: Ksh 35,000/= per month
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 16,000/= per month
Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days
Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu
Those with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by Commission for University Education (CUE). In addition, during the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the issuing institutions.
