Our client is an established provider of Integrated Electronic Security Systems (surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, visitor and parking management, and related solutions), as well as queue management and customer experience solutions, with a strong client base across government, financial, and commercial sectors in Kenya and the region. On their behalf, we are looking for a Business Development Executive to support the Business Development Manager by driving ground-level lead generation, outreach, coordination, cold calling, setting up meetings, gathering project and market information, and drafting quotations. While this is a support role, the BDE also carries their own mandate: they are expected to generate and progress credible leads independently, and are accountable for converting these into closed accounts, working closely with but not solely dependent on the BDM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and profile target accounts within priority sectors (banking, healthcare, hospitality, government, real estate) ahead of outreach.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads against defined criteria before escalating to the BDM.
- Monitor tender portals, industry publications, and news sources for upcoming projects and RFPs.
- Build and maintain a personal network of industry contacts (consultants, contractors, facility managers) to support ongoing lead generation.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to represent the company and generate new leads.
- Conduct competitor and market scans to identify white-space opportunities within assigned territories.
- Prepare briefing notes and background research ahead of BDM client meetings.
- Support the BDM in preparing client presentations, proposals, and pitch materials.
- Coordinate diary management and meeting logistics for the BDM's client engagements.
- Track and follow up on action items arising from BDM client meetings.
- Liaise between the BDM and internal departments (technical, finance, operations) to unblock deal progress.
- Assist in preparing internal sales reports and forecasts for management review.
- Track competitor activity and pricing intelligence to help inform proposal positioning.
- Coordinate with the technical/presales team to ensure quotations reflect accurate specifications, timelines, and pricing.
- Support contract and documentation preparation ahead of deal closure.
- Monitor and report on lead aging and pipeline velocity, flagging stalled opportunities to the BDM.
- Conduct post-sale follow-ups to confirm client satisfaction and identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
- Assist in preparing handover documentation from sales to project/technical delivery teams.
- Participate in ongoing product and industry training to deepen technical knowledge over time.
- Contribute market feedback and client insights to support product and service improvements.
- Support the BDM in piloting new outreach approaches or campaigns within an assigned vertical.
- Build subject-matter familiarity in an assigned industry (e.g., banking, healthcare) as the role matures.
- Mentor or onboard new BDEs as the team grows, sharing lead-generation best practices.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Experience & Technical Background

- Prior experience within the IT and/or Fintech industries is an added advantage.
- Fluency in both English and Swahili is required.
- Familiarity with CRM systems.
Core Competencies
- Confident, persistent, and comfortable with outbound cold calling and fieldwork.
- Well organized, with strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
