Background

Prior to 1974, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation was a department in the Ministry of Agriculture. After this year, the Ministry was constituted and remained thus till 1992 when it Was merged with other departments to form the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Regional Development. After 1998, the Ministry was merged to form the Ministry of Water Resources.

Job Description

The Assistant Director, Administration, KEWI 4 reports to the Deputy Director, Administration KEWI 3.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

  • Served for a cumulative period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Principal Administration Officer, or in in a comparable position;
  • Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science/Government, Anthropology, Social Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognised Institution.
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science/Government, Anthropology Social Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognised Institution.
  • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognised Institution;
  • Membership to a professional body where applicable;
  • A valid practicing certificate where applicable;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Shown merit, integrity and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  • Facilitating maintenance issues through conducting physical survey and defect report and recommend for service to maintain suitable working condition;
  • Coordinating staff welfare by providing suitable tools of work and conditions of work to adopt acceptable standard practice, which will result to better output;
  • Supervising staff through a clear duty allocation, to monitor adherence in order to appraise performance justifiably;
  • Coordinating staff performance appraisal in the Section
  • Ensuring routine responses to routine correspondences on administrative matters to ensure up to date reporting;
  • Coordinating identification of office equipment and furniture requirement for the Institute;
  • Ensuring general maintenance of office equipment’s and building is undertaken;
  • Generating administrative reports on repairs and maintenance; and
  • Facilitating renewal of motor vehicle and property insurance policies.
