Background

Our client, a leading East-African mushroom producers, serving customers with a range of high-quality mushrooms and mushroom-derived products in Kenya is looking for a hands-on Accountant to join their team.

The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end accounting functions, including HR and statutory deductions, with a strong emphasis on Accounts Receivable management and customer account reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure accurate invoicing, timely collections, and proper customer account maintenance.
  • Follow up on overdue payments through calls, emails, and statements, and maintain an updated receivables aging report with action plans.
  • Reconcile all payments received via mobile money, bank transfers, and cheques, ensuring proper documentation and resolving discrepancies with sales and admin teams.
  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate, up-to-date ledgers.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all accounts are properly balanced.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through periodic physical checks and reconciliations.
  • Process payroll and statutory deductions (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF) on time, ensuring full tax and compliance filing.
  • Support internal and external audits, uphold financial controls, issue invoices and credit notes, communicate with clients on payment matters, and assist in improving financial policies.

Key Qualifications

  • Must have a relevant bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or any other related field.
  • Proficient in using financial software and tools.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, and report automation.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving capacity and business acumen.
