Duties and Responsibilities
• Examining and managing children with GI diseases.
• Performing specialized diagnostic procedures like endoscopies to examine the inside of the digestive tract or obtain tissue samples (biopsies).
• To treat bleeding, swallowing problems, or other problems encountered in the gastrointestinal tract
• Consulting with other specialists, such as oncologists, in the case of cancer.
• Performing other diagnostic (e.g., motility) and therapeutic (e.g., foreign body removal, polypectomy, injection therapy, gastrostomy placement, stenting of esophagus, dilation of strictures etc.) procedures.
• Performing liver biopsy.
• Undertaking research activities in the specialty and implementing the research findings to improve quality of service delivery.
• Ensure use of all Hospital’s automated systems, as appropriate, including the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS);
• Any other responsibility assigned by the supervisor in the delivery of care.

Minimum Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child health from a recognized institution.
• Fellowship in Paediatric gastroenterology from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council as a gastroenterologist.
• Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.
• Valid Practice License.
• Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• At least one year working experience as a Paediatric Gastroenterologist in a reputable hospital.
