The Agricultural Employers Association (A.E.A) is a voluntary member based farmer organization registered in 1966 under the Trade Unions Act Cap 233 of the Laws of Kenya as an Association representing the collective interests of employers in the Agricultural Industry in matters connected with employment of labour. 

Communications and Fundraising Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Manage long lasting donor relations by developing excellent communication and public relations strategies; 
  • Develop effective communication and public relations strategies that are reliably informed by research and donor intelligence mapping; 
  • Oversee custodianship of donor information to ensure provision of excellent and timely communication to donors; 
  • Analyze fundraising trends and their impact on Organization’s activities and make recommendations to the Executive Director. 
  • Collate donor feedback by designing a satisfaction index tool that captures comments, queries and complaints with the aim of continuously improving donor relations; 
  • Oversee the coordination of data entry of pledges and related information to ensure the accuracy and promptness of data entry; 
  • Constantly be in search for new funding opportunities by networking with existing partners and potential partners; 
  • Responsible for setting departmental budgets goals and plan activities to establish work standards in conjunction with key stakeholders, including IT and Finance; 
  • Analyze and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of current and past campaigns and suggest improvements to the Executive Director
  • With guidance design and write collateral for social media posts, brochures, newsletters and other communications to illustrate Organization’s work and successes, particularly with respect to research results, publications and implications of research. 
  • Compile and write Organization’s annual reports including Board, Science and Outreach reports
  • Compile and organize existing collateral to make them easily accessible and useable for development of outreach 
  • Oversee development of key communication efforts (recurrent i.e annual, monthly and for specific events, news issues, etc.); 
  • Reviewing all key communications to ensure they adhere to verbal and visual brand usage guidelines, include key messages, and target appropriate audiences; 
  • Oversee development of Organization branded materials; 
  • Ensure Organization’s website is updated regularly (at least once a month); 
  • Oversee media relations activities which help position Organization in the relevant national and international forums. Specific activities include: ensuring development of media materials, press releases, monitoring current events, identifying appropriate opportunities to draft letters to the editor and op-eds, and cultivating relationships with members of the media. 
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. 

Minimum Qualifications
The job holder must possess: 

  • Bachelor degree in social science, communications, business administration or any related field; 
  • Masters degree in business related field or public relations related field will be an added advantage;
  • Specialized training or professional certification in project management; 
  • 5 years related experience in a similar role with proof of fundraising abilities; 
  • Strong communications, data processing and analysis experience; 
  • Strong technical, analytical ability; 
  • Advanced computer skills; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Strong report writing skills;
  • Basic skills in design and layout

 

Workshop Supervisor

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Ensure efficient running of the workshop;
  • Supervise workforce to produce quality work and increase productivity;
  • Determine work prioritization and task allocation for all workshop tasks; 
  • Keep and monitor a proper inventory of all tools, equipment and machinery used by the workshop personnel;
  • Order the right spare parts of machines and vehicles for repairs;
  • Ensure compliance to occupational health and safety requirements;
  • Provide technical support to mechanics and other staff in the workshop;
  • Allocate job cards and supervise technicians to maximize output by aligning jobs to skill sets within the team;
  • Ensure all required information on each job card for each job is properly maintained; 
  • Ensure effective usage of the equipment in the workshop; 
  • Ensure the workshop observes all warranty process conditions, and supervises the correct tagging and storage of warranty parts;
  • Ensure that all vehicles are checked after being serviced in the workshop and leave in the correct condition;
  • preparation of the workshop budget;
  • Identify, monitor and resolve recurrent problems with vehicles and working with PI’s 
  • Supervise vehicle repair and maintenance work to pre-determine standards, to ensure the workshops meets its obligations to provide vehicles which are safe, reliable and legal in accordance with the Road Traffic Acts; 
  • Keep close check of vehicle inspection dates and ensure that all Organization vehicles are inspected on time and are adorned with the correct certificates and stickers etc;
  • Ensure that all vehicles carry the correct items required by law such as a first aid box and fire extinguisher etc; 
  • Complete records for all vehicles and equipment maintained, to ensure the efficiency and accountability of the Workshop;
  • Maintain specialist equipment and tools to ensure they are available for immediate use; 
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program for the vehicle fleet and in doing so ensure that kilometers covered are collected weekly for all vehicles under Road Base; 
  • Ensure that all plant, tools & Equipment are kept in good working condition; 
  • Ensure that all non-Organizational jobs are charged for accordingly using the correct procedures; 
  • Ensure all records of vehicle repairs and maintenance are kept in the prescribed order;
  • Any other duties deemed relevant by the management.

Minimum Qualifications
The job holder must possess:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 
  • 4 years’ experience managing an automotive workshop;
  • Knowledge in Automotive systems (vehicle layout, function and location of parts); 
  • Knowledge of mechanical issues, warranties, service and general repairs;
  • Knowledge in same tractors, farming and commercial diesel; 
  • Organization ability; 
  • Detail oriented; 
  • Technically competent with ability to train others.

 

Livestock and Wildlife Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Monitoring the health of livestock and wildlife by conducting disease surveillance and examination. 
  • Administering drugs and vaccinations to livestock
  • Maintaining records regarding livestock; feedings, vaccinations, breeding schedules and general livestock welfare 
  • Monitoring of animal health, performance, and feeding requirements and other pertinent information about animals on the ranch
  • Coordinate with students and researchers to ensure livestock related research needs are effectively established and met
  • Evaluating livestock operations to ensure that goals are met
  • Providing leadership to employees by setting an example of work ethic and encouraging them to perform their best
  • Organize and conduct general farm activities including livestock control, pest management, dehorning, branding, tagging and dipping 
  • Establish staffing needs, and communicate them to the Head of HR for implementation.
  • Planning and coordinating monthly livestock stock take.
  • Preparing annual and quarterly reports on livestock operations, budgets and financial reports.
  • Benchmarking with related organizations to ensure best practices are implemented.
  • Coordinating with relevant wildlife authorities on treatment and management of wildlife.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Qualifications
The job holder must possess:

  • At least a Bachelors’ degree in Veterinary medicine 
  • At least five years’ experience in livestock/ wildlife clinical interventions
  • Registration with relevant regulatory authorities
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Ability to work in and with communities
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Experience working in a laboratory will be an added advantage

 

Infrastructure Manager

Duties and responsibilities.

  • To supervise and lead all maintenance programs, processes and operations.
  • Develop a comprehensive road, buildings, bridges & airfields rehabilitation and maintenance program; 
  • Plan, co-ordinate & supervise the maintenance and construction of boundary fences & exclusion zones; 
  • Develop and maintain a rangeland fire mitigation plan with key focus on establishing fire breaks & maintenance of firefighting equipment and perform as a fire marshal in times of fires and other emergencies
  • Ensure that adequate water is provided to necessary end users at Organization and that intake, pipelines and water tanks are regularly maintained;
  • Oversee the recycling management programme for Organization; 
  • Monitor electrical and solar systems of facilities to ensure functionality
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Ensure that designated buildings, plant and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required
  • Preparing and implement the maintenance and infrastructure budget.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
  • Ensuring all department workers adhere to the safety policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and implementing a proactive maintenance strategy that ensures efficient operations
  • Develop standard operating procedures for all maintenance work
  • Ensuring that all maintenance processes are consistent with industry regulations and OSHA standards.
  • manage of consultants, subcontractors and other vendors for specialized maintenance work
  • Identifying and implementing a proactive maintenance strategy that ensures efficient operations
  • Performing inspections and oversight of maintenance work to ensure quality

Minimum Qualifications
The job holder must possess: 

  • Degree in Electrical/ Building and Civil Engineering; 
  • 3 years relevant working experience; 
  • Demonstrable leadership skills;
  • Effective analytical problem-solving skills; 
  • Good communication and report writing skills.
