Teacher & Administrative Assistant

Job Summary: 

  • Responsible for cultivating the learners’ interest in education and development. Responsibilities will include grading assignments, evaluating learners’ progress and planning educational activities.
  • Responsible for organizing, coordinating, scheduling and performing office operations and managing the school’s general administrative activities. Provides administrative support to management, staff and parents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Learner instruction

  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
  • Create and distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments etc.)
  • Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests.
  • Assess and record learners’ progress and provide feedback
  • Supervise classes to ensure all learners are learning in a safe and productive environment.
  • Organize supplies and resources for presentations.
  • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
  • Plan and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events
  • Observe and understand learners’ behavior and psyche and report suspicions of neglect, abuse etc.
  • Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.
  • Prepare and distribute periodic progress reports and termly report cards.
  • Evaluate and document learners’ progress.

Administration

  • Provide a friendly, professional and efficient first point of contact to all students, parents, staff,
  • and visitors contacting or visiting the school.
  • Answer and route phone calls to relevant personnel as necessary to ensure customers are sent to the appropriate department and the right representative.
  • Process, record and distribute incoming and outgoing letters to ensure they are received and attended to on time.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and orderly admin office that promotes a positive image of the school to visitors.
  • Update parents about sick students in school and ensure they are collected to seek medical attention.
  • Conduct first aid to learners according to established guidelines and procedures to save lives, prevent a casualty from getting worse and help stabilize their conditions.
  • Coordinate transport schedules to ensure all students are picked and dropped on a daily basis.
  • Plan school events and undertake marketing activities to increase brand awareness. 
  • Assist the management team by conducting clerical duties.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending conferences & workshops;
  • Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of stock and order supplies following the school's procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality through storing sensitive information in accordance with guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Education.
  • TSC registered
  • Proven experience as a teacher
  • Excellent knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
  • Ability to integrate ICT in learning
  • Ability to compile lesson plans efficiently.
  • Ability to execute lessons with meaning, in a fun, and engaging manner.

HR Assistant

Job Summary: 

Responsible for undertaking a variety of HR administrative duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to employees, HR and management
  • Compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies)
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to employee activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc)
  • Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc) and take minutes
  • Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, leaves, etc)
  • Communicate with public services when necessary
  • Properly handle complaints and grievance procedures
  • Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews
  • Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience as an HR Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Hands-on experience with an HRIS or HRMS
  • Basic knowledge of labour laws
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communications skills
  • Diploma/degree in Human Resources or related field

Principal (IGCSE & CBC experience)

Job Summary: 

Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the School’s core strategies in order to provide an excellent education to all learners who attend.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead the school’s vision, mission, and strategic goals to support high school-readiness and academic and socioemotional success for all learners
  • Establish rigorous academic goals and priorities that are systematically monitored for continuous improvement with all learner populations.
  • Lead teachers in using a variety of formal and informal methods and assessments to measure learner growth and understanding and make necessary adjustments to drive improvement.
  • Plan and teach assigned subject areas
  • Drive rapid and dramatic instructional improvements by implementing strategies in line with the priority areas identified in the School’s strategic plan
  • Foster a shared commitment to high standards of teaching and learning with high expectations for achievement for all.
  • Implement an observation and feedback cycle that ensures continuous improvement in teaching and learning
  • Use multiple sources of evidence related to learner learning and school assessment results and growth data, to inform school goals and improve organizational performance, teacher effectiveness, and learner learning.
  • Develop and implement a professional development plan to address identified areas of need
  • Develop a school calendar that offers built-in opportunities for staff to collaborate, plan instruction, and review learner data

Management and Operations

  • Develop and execute effective plans, procedures, routines, and operational systems to address a full range of safety, health, and emotional and social needs of learners.
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring of diverse, highly-qualified staff;
  • Strategically align people, time and money to drive learner achievement;
  • Apply teacher and staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support, and accountability;
  • Provide professional development and training opportunities to help teachers adapt best practices based on reflection and data research.
  • Implement a reward system for teachers’ positive reinforcement
  • Support a school-wide approach to promote collaboration as often and as feasibly and appropriately as possible.
  • Oversee the operations of the school in partnership with management
  • Develop a timeline with an action plan to create scheduled communication opportunities with families and community stakeholders about learning performance.
  • Provide professional development for school teams to build a variety of conflict resolution strategies.
  • Understand and comply with Kenyan laws & regulations and mandates, school policies and ethical guidelines.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Create a culture of open communication, respect, and trust as the school and community develop a sense of collective responsibility for improving the learning of all learners.
  • Actively ensure that all families are welcome members of the classroom and school community and can contribute to the classroom, school, and community’s effectiveness.
  • Strengthen teacher and staff capacity to cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with families of diverse backgrounds and with community members that support learner achievement and learner well-being
  • Manage partnerships.

  • Experience with CBC and IGCSE curriculum
  • TSC registered
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience as a school leader required
  • Teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience in building a positive school culture
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in turning around a school highly preferred
