Market Risk Analyst

The Position:

Reporting to the Head, Market Risk, and the position will support coordination of the Group’s market risk and asset and liability management. The position will also support the identification and evaluation of market, liquidity and country risks, development of the respective risk policies including providing support to the Business units in risk return analytics and maintenance of the Treasury Front Office and Market Risk System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, development and customization of market risk and asset and liability management policies, procedures and controls for the Bank and its subsidiaries.
  • Management of the periodic monitoring and reporting of market, liquidity and country risk exposure against limits and reporting of breaches as per policy and understanding and reporting on underlying reasons for market changes and their impact on risk and market value.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the Treasury Front Office and market risk system across the Group.
  • Validation and maintenance of pricing and value at risk models for both current and new Treasury products as they are introduced including back testing.
  • Supervise and continuously improve the periodic risk reporting including analysis and commentary as additional information becomes available with the implementation of the market risk system across the Group.
  • Production of risk versus return analysis for the respective Treasury products to obtain optimal market risk portfolio, risk-transfer strategies which ensure compliance with the risk tolerance and maximize economic value.
  • Utilization of statistical forecasting techniques to predict movements in market factors and use this information to develop meaningful scenarios and stress tests for scenario analysis and stress testing.
  • Modelling of deposits for use in management of liquidity and interest rate risk in the banking book and Basel III implementation.
  • Development of criteria for allocating market risk-based economic capital to business and trading units and contribute to the Enterprise Wide Risk Management of the Group.
  • Providing support and training the junior market risk analysts across the Group.
  • Profit & loss attribution analysis, price verification and liaison with Finance and Treasury on P&L reconciliation of reported results.
  • Support the MTM process by ensuring that the MTM sources are updated and reflective of market rates/prices.
  • Establish and maintain control framework to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, BASEL requirements, Codes, and applicable external laws and regulations and support the ICAAP reporting for the Group.
  • Contribute towards development of the Group’s strategic risk management capability and risk/return assessments and benchmarks.

The Person:

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • A University degree from a recognized university in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics for related field.
  • Any one qualification from the list - ACI Dealing, PRM, FRM, CFA, CPA(K).
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in a Market Risk or Treasury unit of a bank or financial services sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Treasury products.
  • Good understanding and command of SQL programming language or prior experience with database management especially oracle or SQL Servers as well as advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Good management skills including organizational, presentation & communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high integrity and team spirit.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, be open-minded and have the ability to identify alternative solutions.

 

Manager, Backup Administration

The Position: 

Technology Infrastructure department is responsible for planning, deployment, and maintenance of all IT infrastructure for the bank. This ranges from Server, Storage, Operating Systems, Virtualization, IP Network and Telephony, Databases and Cloud infrastructure.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Systems Infrastructure, Manager, Backup Administration will be accountable for all backup and archival of the Bank’s data in line with bank’s business requirements. The successful candidate will act as the team leader of a team of data backup administrators to ensure that all backups and archival conform to operational guidelines as per banks requirements and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of data backup administrators by ensuring all backups and archival services are operational as per KCB requirements.
  • Accountable for all data backup and archival services and ensuring agreed SLAs are always met.
  • Prepare, advise, and provide backup and archival related budgets, upgrade plans and support related requirements.
  • Participate and co-ordinate data backup project implementations and upgrades as necessary.
  • Accountable for daily and periodic reports of backup and archival success as per business requirements.
  • Facilitate review of closure of any backup and archival related Audit, Risk and Security reports as shared by the bank.
  • Perform contract or SLA reviews at least annually and ensuring that all contracts are consistent with organizational requirements and standard terms and conditions wherever possible to ensure that value for money is obtained from backup and archival suppliers and contracts.
  • Development and maintenance of policies, standards, processes, systems and measurements that enable the organization to manage backup and archival Asset Portfolio with respect to risk, cost, control, IT Governance, compliance and business performance objectives as established by the business.

The Person:

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in IT with at least 4 years in backup administration and operating systems management (Windows and Linux) and 3 in vendor management. 
  • Certification in Backup Administration (Commvault, Dell, IBM, Actifio, Veritas etc) required. Certification in either Microsoft, vMware, Linux/Unix will be an added advantage.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.

 

Application Support Specialist

The Position: 

Banking system operations is the department in charge of supportingvarious applications used within the bank. 

The primary role of the Application Support Specialist is to lead and coordinate the Applications support teams and ensure the applications availability reliability & security is not compromised. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other Technology staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Implement and adhere to regular systems maintenance policies and procedures, including change request mechanisms and update schedules to ensure optimum uptime and service availability.
  • Participate in system acquisition process; propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, charts and implementation roadmaps to provide strategic direction to the business.
  • Administer the assigned Systems at Application level and connected databases, define and optimize database structures, content and processing flows through appropriate Data Definition, Data Manipulation and Data Control Languages.
  • Perform recovery and testing of systems and processes in accordance with the bank’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, and processes.
  • Create and maintain best practice policies and procedures for business users; ensuring that there are adequate controls around that all service improvements are managed effectively and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing ETL architecture to meet corporate data management needs and business functional requirements, ensuring that solution designs address operational requirements such as scalability, maintainability, extensibility, flexibility, and integrity.
  • Support, develop and maintain ETL and data warehouse objects and processes in a large Data warehouse.

The Person:

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Linux certification or Database Administration certification (such as Oracle; MySQL) is required.
  • 4 years Technology experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in computing platforms, databases and operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Unix.
  • 2 years’ experience in SAP, E-Business suite applications and web application servers such as Jboss, Tomcat.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
