The accountant assistant's mission is to ensure accurate, up to date and legally compliant bookkeeping for our client.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Basic accounting functions
• Filing and archiving of accounting documents
• Receiving and verification of invoices against approved purchased orders
• Recording and filing of suppliers' invoices
• Recording of sales invoices
• Recording accounting entries in the accounting software
• Report on cash available at banks
• Initiate payments for approval
• Sales tax (VAT) calculations
• PAYE tax calculations
• Social security calculations
• Depreciation and amortization calculations
IN MORE DETAILS:
• Receive the sales receipt/delivery notes after delivery to the client and create the related invoices
• Entering sales invoices for customers in the appropriate system
• Reception of suppliers’ invoices, verification of compliance with the internal procedures, and recording them
• Transfer of invoices for approval as per procedures
• Entering daily sales from the various points of sale
• Possibly prepare payment vouchers and process cheques/online payments as per procedures
• Prepare weekly payments needs
• Prepare weekly petty cash needs Process petty cash reconciliations
• Other accounting related tasks requested by the Management.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a busy environment
• Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field
• Previous experience in food & beverage industry an added advantage
• Good knowledge with Accounting packages
• Fully understand the majority of the concepts of double entry accounting, taxation and financial reporting
• Excel, Word (very strong)
• Ability to organize and plan

Duties and Responsibilities
• Planning, formulating strategies and identifying sources of revenue.
• Designing effective, efficient and secure systems of collecting revenue.
• Developing B1lls, policies, programs, bylaws and internal control systems that enhance own source revenue collection in the County.
• Supervising collection of own source revenue in the county.
• Implementing county policies and regulations for revenue.
• Setting up and projecting regular revenue trends for planning and decision making.
• Guiding county entities in preparation of the Finance Bill/Act.
• Organizing stakeholder sensitization forums on the provisions of the finance bill and other revenue collection bills and bylaws.
• Ensuring posting of all revenue sources in the IFMIS system.
• Preparing quarterly and annual revenue reports on all own source revenue and external sources.
• Submitting regular reports to county assembly, national treasury and commission for revenue allocation on matters of revenue collection.
• Identifying and provide baseline data on new sources of revenue.
• Maintaining records of all the revenue sources/centres, rates and revenues collected
• Championing automation of own source revenue streams in the County.
• Ensuring all own source revenue collected is accounted for and banked intact.
• Preparing the budget for the directorate.
Professional and Academic Qualifications.
• Have a bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance): or
• have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management (Accounting or Finance) from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in Computer Application Skills relevant to financial management from a recognized institution.
• Be a qualified Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA K)
• Membership of the Institute Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK).

Job Responsibilities:
• Ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting systems.
• Managing the Accounts Receivable function to ensure accurate and timely billing as well as collections.
• Continuous vouching of the entities Trial Balance to correct possible errors and to verify the General Ledger accounts balances at all time.
• To maintain fixed assets registers and ensure that companies assets are not misused and that their existence is verifiable at all times.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

• Closely scrutinize funds transfer and cash disbursement protocols within the organization.
• Maintenance of company’s set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk.
• Able to prepare and submits finance reports in a timely manner and also ensuring delivery deadlines.
• Responsible for verifying all financial reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and in compliance with county and national government regulations.
• Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
• Undertake cash and bank reconciliations.
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and document business transactions.
• Responsible for verification of income, receivables & debtors’ reconciliation.
• Preparation of financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
• Apply cost accounting methods to achieve efficient representation of cost center performance.
• Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets.
• Reconciliation of daily revenue against ERP generated reports.
• Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports.
Education & Skills Requirements:
• A bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a preference for Second-Class Upper division.
• Must have done CPA to level 2
• Experience working as an accountant in a security firm will be an added advantage.
• MUST have a minimum of four years’ recent experience as an accountant.
• Should have a high command of Excel, etc.
• Knowledge of accounting systems like Quick Bo0oks, SAP, Sage
• Must possess excellent financial knowledge, analytical skills and be very well organized.
• Willingness to work as an overall team member to help ensure continued growth and success of this company.
• Proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
