This role will be based in a new Global Internal Communications unit, which forms part of our wider Global Corporate Communications Team. This new unit is responsible for developing and delivering simple, informative and inspiring communications that will make our staff feel valued, motivated and proud to work as part of our global movement.
The Global Internal Communications Manager will track key metrics and manage our internal engagement tool, identifying key learnings and innovations in internal communications. The post holder works collaboratively with communications and HR teams, our strategy function, as well the CEO’s office.

Duties & responsibilities
Reporting to Operations Manager, the role holder shall be responsible for growing the Association membership and partners and maintaining excellent member relations. Specific duties shall include;
• Onboarding of new members into the Association in line with the set targets within the region assigned;
• Maintain an up-to-date and accurate register of the Association Membership for the regions assigned;
• Ensuring all registered members pay their subscriptions promptly when due and in accordance with the Associations procedures;
• Organize membership recruitment drives for the region assigned;
• Ensure seamless coordination with the head office and regional leadership;
• Market KPSA exams to all schools in the region assigned;
• Organize the Association programs and activities in regions assigned in consultation with the local KPSA officials and head office;
• Develop annual regional budgets for review and approval by the management;
• Ensure all regional activities and programs are within the approved budgets;
• Mobilize members and stakeholders to attend to functions organized by the Associations in the region assigned;
• Cross-sell/market the Association value-added products and services in the region assigned;
• Lead the effort in ensuring that the Association has a strong and good public image;
• Ensure prompt resolution of all member issues and advise appropriately;
• Gather/ collect and analyze vital member data to acquire in-depth knowledge for advisory purposes to the management; and
• Any other lawful duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:
Appointment to the position shall be made from persons who:
• A Bachelor’s degree in business related field or its equivalent from a recognized university
• 5 years of relevant experience in client relationship management
• Professional qualification in marketing will be an added advantage
• Good knowledge of the education sector in Kenya

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas

• Operationalize Communication Strategy
• Develop, implement, and evaluate the regional communications strategy in collaboration with the regional program team and external communications coordinator.
• Develop effective internal communications mechanisms to ensure that news and events are known internally and publicized as appropriate.

External Relations and Engagement
• Manage the implementation of FTA’s regional engagement and communications plan.
• Develop press materials including press statements and releases, and information kits/fact sheets.
• Establish and sustain links and contact with relevant journalists within the region to increase awareness of FTA work among journalists
• Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the region.
• Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
• Manage crisis communication as it arises and escalate to management.
• Analyse regional reports and generate impact stories for publication on newsletters, websites, and social media platforms.
• Produce and be n charge of the production of FTA’s publications; newsletters, annual reports, project profiles, and product brochures among others.
• Manage the development and production of content for the website, social media, and print publications.
• Support in events planning, organise workshops and press conferences and oversee production of merchandising and branding materials.

Member and Producer Support
• Create and manage a producer mailing database and identify strategies and extensive effective communications of impact stories to producers, donors and NFOS.
• Plan all member communications and create e-shots for forthcoming events and activities.
• Build relationships with key contacts at member organisations
• Support with the implementation of specific marketing activities relevant to membership, promotional and recruitment campaigns
• Contribute to the production of written materials for the website and promotional documentation.

Skills & Experience Required
Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, media studies, or related fields.
• Being a member of a professional PR or Communications body in Eastern Africa is an added advantage.

Experience and Knowledge
• At least 3 – 5 years of work experience in communications, writing, and content creation, in an NGO setting in East Africa.
• Proficient in Microsoft office, content management systems, and social media platforms
• Experience in handling complex communication campaigns

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write letters of intent, grant proposals, applications, and other means of communication to grant makers.
• The role will conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports by:
• Cultivating new and existing grant donor relationships
• Assisting programme team in identifying funding needs and developing proposal and evaluation tools
• Working with executive and finance team to develop budgets for grant applications
• Working with the Director of Growth and programme heads to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programmes.
• Working with the Communications and Content Lead and the local Communications Officers to plan and gather compelling impact stories to support upcoming reports and proposals
• Maintaining grant records, track due dates for applications and reports; serve as point person for grant compliance, assessing if programmes are meeting expectations and timelines of grant awards
• Providing prompt responses to internal and external information inquiries of the organisation, via phone, email, or in person
• Performing prospect research and evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants
• Assisting with other fundraising projects as requested

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social sciences or related field preferred; may substitute six (6) years of work experience in grant writing and program management for degree
• Minimum of two (2) years of professional writing experience, with preference for foundation grant-related work
• Familiarity with donor relations preferred
• Ability to utilise a database to track both programme and fundraising data and generate reports
• Ability to organise workload, exercise independent judgment, and maintain self-motivated and self-directed schedule
• Capable of addressing multiple projects in time-sensitive manner, taking initiative and remaining flexible to ensure objectives are met accurately and timely
• Committed to maintaining the integrity of confidential communications and/or activities
• Professional, courteous, cooperative, positive and effective with a diversity of individuals and groups
• Able to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• Strong contributor in team environments. Must be able to work and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organisation, across countries, cultures, and timezones
