JOB DETAILS: Activities, Tasks, Outputs and Deliverables
• Under the general guidance and supervision of the Education Specialist (Quality), the consultant has the following key functions/accountabilities:
• Contribute to the design and management of digital learning initiatives that are aligned with the global Reimagine Education initiative
• Contribute to the deployment of accessible digital content, the provision and scaling of internet connectivity to schools, teacher training, affordable data, empowerment of youth and digital monitoring.
• Contribute to project management processes, generation, and review of terms of reference and vendor selection for the digital learning initiatives.
• Collect, analyze and share information on implementation of digital learning initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and quality control activities during planning and deployment of digital learning initiatives – with a strong focus on the inclusion of the most marginalized/vulnerable children in the most deprived counties of Kenya.
• Prepare draft inputs for programme/donor reporting on digital learning initiatives.
• Undertake field visits and surveys and share information with stakeholders to assess progress and challenges. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks and potential problems for timely action to achieve results.
• Draft communication and information materials for CO programme advocacy to promote awareness, establish partnerships, and support fundraising for education programmes.
• Support the education specialist in research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials and briefs for fundraising and partnership development purposes.
• Provide support in identifying, capturing, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned for knowledge development and capacity development of stakeholders.
• Research, benchmark and report on best and cutting-edge practices for development of knowledge sharing products and systems, updating the inventory of digital learning initiatives and Innovations, assets, resources, and networks
• Participate as a resource person in capacity-building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients and stakeholders on digital learning.
• Expected Results
The following outputs shall be expected of the Education Officer:
• UNICEF’s current work on connecting schools and digital learning is reviewed with highlights of gaps, opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
• A strategy for UNICEF KCO engagement in ICT in education is drafted with the support of the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office. This should include mapping of current stakeholders working in the area of ICT in education and recommendations for areas of engagement for UNICEF to consider based on the needs on the ground and UNICEF’s global, regional and local comparative advantage.
• UNICEF’s work on Digital Learning in Kenya is supported including the development, implementation, management and monitoring of projects and partnerships on digital content, teacher capacity building, connectivity to school, empowerment of children and youth and digital monitoring.
• Technical Assistance, and support to the development and implementation of the policy framework legislation for the national ICT in education including digital learning is provided
• Opportunities for resource mobilization are identified, new partnerships and proposals are developed in close collaboration with Kenya Country Office Focal Points and other stakeholders.
• Technical assistance and support in the development of reports on digital learning initiatives in Kenya.
• Lessons learned and best practices are identified, synthesized, and analyzed for integration into broader knowledge management
Minimum Qualifications required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or other related areas.
• Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:
• A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in education, innovation in teaching and learning, digital content development and relevant technical field.
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation of projects with multi-partner engagement.
• Experience working in digital learning with the Ministry of Education among other organizations.
• Ability to work and coordinate efficiently and effectively with project members in various locations and from multiple organizations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to write succinctly and clearly.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required, strong written and verbal competency is necessary.

• Support clubs, societies and other core-curricular enrichments at the school aimed at building all rounded students.
• Serve as a home room teacher when called upon to do so.
About You
Skills and Qualifications required:
• You have a TSC certificate
• A Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Education to teach English/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Home Science.
• You have 1-2 years of teaching experience.
• You have good working skills with technology such as Word, Powerpoint and Excel
• You are a great communicator. You are able to provide clear and effective written and verbal communication.

JOB DETAILS: Position Summary
• The Education Technical Advisor (TA) will be responsible for supporting a 36-month AFD-funded grant titled Feminist Solidarity Fund for Girls’ Education (FSF). Through this project, FSF Consortium will support a range of feminist CSOs and WROs working in our 7 target countries and/or at a regional level to accelerate gender equality in and through education. These include:
• CSOs providing direct support to girls and their families to remove individual-, family- and community-level barriers to education.
• CSOs working directly with schools and other sub-national institutions to improve the quality of support for adolescent girls in school as well as access to education for out-of-school girls.
• And, CSOs conducting research and/or advocacy to advance the rights of girls, including access to education
• Priority will be given to CSOs working with the most marginalised, vulnerable or under-served subgroups of adolescent girls such as those that have experienced violence, those living through multiple crises, those that are marginalized because of their gender identity and sexual orientation.
• The TA will guide the program design, provide direct technical support, and build technical capacity to implement, measure and continuously improve the proposed project in in close collaboration with the Women’s Protection and Empowerment Technical Advisor.
The Technical Advisor’s Specific Responsibilities Are As Follows
• This is a primarily a field-facing position with the central responsibility focused on program quality. The remaining 0-20% of their time is spent on influence, advocacy, research and internal initiatives at the discretion of their supervisors.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure a shared regional framework, as well as context-appropriate adaptation, for program design, innovation, influence, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning for the FSF project;
• Support consortium partner staff to undertake FSF activities, ensuring that they are aligned with the project strategies which include contextualizing education outcomes and including interventions chosen based on best available evidence;
• Provide support to ensure proposed activities are responsive to client needs and preferences based on sound context and gender analysis;
• Document and share cross-context learning internally (with country program staff) and externally (in relevant meetings, conferences, etc. in national, regional, and global fora);
• Regular communication and coordination with the Project Manager and key home office staff as well as other regional Technical Advisors on technical and project management issues;
• Give technical input to relevant communication materials such as fact sheets, briefs, papers, and presentations that can be disseminated and used for influence at the national and global level;
• Produce technical inputs to internal and external reports, as needed;
• Act as lead technical focal point for education in emergencies technical questions with the donor.
Job Qualifications
• Education: Master’s/post-graduate degree in education or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Participate in ongoing training courses and share knowledge and skill sets within the unit.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 6 to 8 years of implementing and/or managing large education programs and teams is required, within a humanitarian or international development setting, as are at least 1—2 years acting in an advisory capacity on education programming. Experience in technical tools and materials development, monitoring and evaluation, innovation, and research in relation to education is highly desired. Expertise in one more technical areas of focus within education preferred (e.g. reading, math, edtech, inclusive education, etc). Experience in strategy development and working across sectors or disciplines is highly desired.
• Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Demonstrated expertise in program design, monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to turn concepts and strategy into measurable action. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to renewing and maintaining currency with best practices.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English and French required.
