The purpose of this position is to develop and deliver teaching programmes to students, manage research projects, write or publish books or other creative works, offer clinical services as a senior consultant and enable the university to generate income.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Department the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
• Teaching as a member of faculty within an established programme of study.
• Transferring knowledge including practical skills, methods and techniques.
• Supervising students during field trips, attachments.
• Using a range of programme delivery techniques to inspire and engage students.
• Identify the learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
• Conducting individual and collaborative research projects.
• Prepare research write-ups and other publications.
• Seeking practical applications of research findings.
• Serving in various committees to infuse professionalism in the running of affairs.
• To lecture in the area of specialization as per the curriculum.

Qualification Requirements
• A Master’s degree of Education in the following specialization ( Education Foundation, Sociology of Education, History of Education, Philosophy of Education and Comparative and International Education) and a Bachelor’s degree in BED Arts or Science qualification from a recognized/accredited university in the relevant field plus
• At least (3) years post qualification teaching experience; and or
• Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral level qualification;
• Demonstrated potential for university teaching and research.

University Counsellor

The position
The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is currently recruiting a University Counsellor to add capacity to support our students to access places and scholarships at top universities in North America, Canada, the Middle East, and Europe. The successful candidate will support students with university applications and provide guidance on courses and possible scholarships available to them.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Work with students in preparing their university applications including navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
• Coordinate with students for SAT/ACT testing preparation.
• Network with universities campuses to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with university admission staffs.
• Educate families about universities admissions and financial aid/scholarship and identify appropriate university options.
• Work with the Director of University Counselling to gather data for the website and press release.
• Provide periodic reports on university applications and decisions to date

The requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, minimum 3 years’ experience in college admissions or high school Counselling.
• Strong oral and written communication skill.
• She/he should have a strong knowledge and understanding of UCAS and College Board and of the IB Diploma Programme.
• International Experience knowledge of US, Canada, UK, Australia & Europe universities application procedures.
• Experience with SAT preparations.
